Horrific Note of the Week – The Yule Cat

In ICELAND – Children who don’t receive new clothes by Christmas Eve will devours by a mythical monster from Icelandic folklore known as the Yule Cat. What is a Yule Cat? It’s a large and angry feline rumored to lurk in the snow. The strange tradition comes from farmers who used the myth as an incentive for their workers to finish processing the autumn wool before Christmas. The ones who took part in the work would be rewarded with new clothes, but those who did not would get nothing and thus would be preyed upon by the monstrous cat.

Some cheering, hand clapping with robust post song pats on the back broke out, then the second verse.

The scathing words ate away at Christopher. Each word punctured his heart, leaving an aching reminder of what had just taken place within Hell’s doors.
‘Why didn’t I react sooner and save the little one?’ thought Christopher as the guilt of his actions entered his core like the serpent’s poison.
Christopher true to his word left the scene. Rushing in after these lost souls would be just what Lucifer wanted. The demons were primed and ready for a surprise attack; now was not the time to be foolish. Soon the light of Christopher was a slow-moving dim figure in the wilderness. Hell’s gates, dark and polluted celebrated its victory.
